Mubili is an audio journey simulation based on the act of walking or cycling through the Locustream Map. It acts as an audio navigation device geolocated in real-time (on the red), based on the interaction between the Locus Sonus web project and current online weather data. The user create an itinerary on a mobile device or tablet, defining the desired cruising speed. Every time the application is reopened, Mubili calculates the current virtual location on this itinerary, broadcasting a new audio landscape. The audio mix is determined by the wind's force and direction in relation to the microphones closest to the current location. All of the data retrieved during this experiment are simultaneously saved in the application in order to restore a visual representation of the journey. This application is designed to realistically reproduce the sensations felt by the sound matter shared through the networks, thus requires the use of a pair of stereo headphones. Mubili takes into account the laws of physics and geography in its interface. However, weather data may be exaggerated depending on listening issues encountered during the itinerary. The project Mubili was created during an artist-researcher residency at Locus Sonus at the Aix-en-Provence Art Institute in 2015.
